The Benefits of Mindfulness for University Students

Background: Mindfulness training is increasingly being adopted to address mental health concerns among university students (Kuyken et al., 2017). Previous research has supported mindfulness with empirical evidence as an autonomous, accessible, and cost-effective intervention for stress anxiety (Flett, Conner, Rordan, Patterson, & Hayne, 2020).Aim: The purpose of this study was (1) examine the prevalence student alongside interest experience; (2) benefits through perspectives cognitive neuroscience, population health, behavioral economics; (3) cost-effectiveness students.Methods: To these aims, anonymous online survey incorporating both Five Facet Questionnaire (FFMQ) Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) administered at a liberal arts in New England quantify mindfulness. It hypothesized that scores on PSS would be inversely correlated FFMQ .Results: results demonstrated significant negative correlation between scores, r (107) = -.507, p < 0.01.Conclusion: implications are beneficial establishing effective approach promoting students. concluded data-informed recommendation educational strategy based upon findings.
